Cuban Cigars & EMS Stamps History
EMS (English Market Selection) has been used for over a hundred years in Cuba to identify cigars shipped for the British market. It is the stamp of quality and guarantee to ensure that only the best smoke is transported overseas to Britain.
The stamp is applied to all boxes and packs of cigars that have passed an additional UK quality inspection before being made available for sale to specialist tobacconists like us at Taylors Tobacconists. Every single box and pack of cigars are opened (by cutting the seal) and inspected before being delivered to tobacconists across the UK.
The EMS stamps guarantee that every box has passed a UK quality check and all the UK duties have been paid, as well as each box carrying the correct UK health warning. The EMS stamp is also an important safeguard against counterfeit cigars that occasionally find their way onto the market.
It is important to note that the colour of the EMS stamp changes every year in order to prevent deception.
