Oleg Prudius On The Most Expensive Cigar
When the Ukraine born actor flexes his muscles in front of the camera it’s more than just for show. Oleg Prudius had a career as a judo fighter and wrestler behind him when he was discovered for the movies. Today he stars in blockbuster action movies.
“I have Kaizad Hansotia, founder of the brand Gurkha, to thank for introducing me to the world of cigars. He inspired my interest for the fine smoke and I quickly got hooked on his fine long fillers”, discloses Prudius.
Just as he used to casually flex his muscles, today he blows smoke from one of the world’s most expensive cigars into the air in a totally matter of fact way. He also moves in the same circles of passionate cigar enthusiasts such as Bill Clinton and members of renowned Royal families.
During the height of his judo and wrestling career, Predius did everything to maintain top fitness. “I don’t find smoking cigars to be a contradiction. Because for me, it means inspiration and relaxation” he confesses in a laid-back way.
Today Prudius even smokes his favourite cigars on set, that is, Gurkha’s ghost Angel and Grand Reserve. These are in a price category that every cigar lover can afford from us at Taylors Tobacconists in Brighton.
Casually, the smart muscleman tells me that he prefers to share his best cigars for smoking with others. “In the meantime, when I’m on set for the series John Wick 2, I have quite a few Gurkha fans around me. Even Keanu Reeves eventually gave in to the aroma of these fine cigars”.
These days even after sporting contests he rewards himself with a fine smoke now and then. I wanted to know if the actor has ever played a role smoking a cigar. “No”, he tells me. “So far, that hasn’t fit the roles of my characters. Usually the focus was on my athletic powers. I was predestined to play mens who fight with gloves off”.
I also asked him what’s the dream role with a cigar? “I see myself caught up in a high-calibre business deal, but of course, I’ve got everything under control. I personally would use a cigar to stimulate my concentration, to help me think”.
In closing, I ask the actor what he finds most fascinating about his job as a global ambassador for the Gurkha brand. “For me, it’s a great honour to represent the best cigars on our planet with my name”, he answers.
